It did snow, and we had a snow day off from school (kids were thrilled).  I unknowingly took our new dog Louie out in the snow without a sweater… yes, I’m use to shedding dogs with fur .. so had NO idea how cold this poor boy would be.  Now I know.  He survived me like a trooper.

Other than socializing Louie as best we can, and getting him use to living with us – we keep our fingers on the pulse of various local protests, sometimes stopping to photograph them.  The city is alive and pulsing as always, but often it’s too cold to stay out there for long!

And the irony: this weekend will be unseasonably warm so we will plan on doing some grilling!  Enjoy your weekend.

His cursive writing skills are coming along nicely! They no longer teach this at school, sadly. Ezra learned it himself.

Well it’s been a mild winter so far, and today the temps are in the 60s – which I’m kind of digging.  But tomorrow we are meant to have a snow day off… will it happen?  Will we have another day like the one shown below.. which was back in the beginning of January and blew away within a day?  Or will it linger?  And I wonder how our new friend Louie will cope with snow –

With all that’s been going on here, I’ve been slow to put photos on the blog (sorry, neglected you again blog!) A couple of weekends ago we had a night of snow that trapped us behind a couple feet building up on our back door. After a LOT of shoveling, the kids got out and ran around a winter wonderland of an alley. It all melted quickly but it’s now flurrying again! Hope your weekend is white – or at least wonderful – too.

We had a quiet and picturesque drive upstate on Thanksgiving morning – with just a slight snow shower that coated the terrain on most of the way. See some shots below of our making name tags for the table with cousin Jake, grandma reading stories and siblings playing in snow – and we got to go here again too!

Okay in all honesty these photos happened BEFORE the Florida shots… but I just couldn’t bring myself to put them in the mix with all the sun. Brrrrrr don’t they make you shiver? And can you believe the size of those icicles?

What are you up to this weekend? Does it include lots of television, friends and cheesy nachos? While we aren’t the hugest football fans, we do like to partake in a good Super Bowl Party. AND Ezra had a random half-day at school yesterday so we got to beat the crowds (barely) when we made a run to Times Square for Super Bowl Boulevard. Check out this crazy huge Toboggan Run engineered by GMC! And of course there were lots of silly promotional photo opps and football fans abound to enjoy.

The temps here may get up to a balmy 20 degrees so – who knows? Maybe we will get outdoors again .. enjoy your Super Bowl weekend.

Last week when we were in the Boston area for Papa’s funeral, the weather was crazy. It seemed fitting seeing as Papa was born in the first week in March and his mother use to say he was as ‘unpredictable as March weather’. We had some crazy January weather that bounced from balmy and warm to a foot of snow and back again. Finally most of the piles of snow have melted off the sidewalks here in NYC but the light on the snow in my brother’s yard was so pretty. And our dachshund friends Max and Mia proved to be great therapy dogs (they got lots of pats that week) during a trying time.
I’m hoping this weekend allows us to get outside again (here you’ll see that only Ezra and cousin Sophia braved the snow, while Zoe and cousin Paul stayed inside.)
We hope you enjoy your weekend.

We haven’t done this much sledding in a long LONG time… I am still sore. First we had a piano recital where cousins Jake, Tals and Ezra played what they’ve been learning all autumn long. Then back out to make snow forts and play in Aunt Becca’s huge yard!

We were back in Rochester to see family – where there were 8 inches of snow waiting for us. The kids loved sledding, eating turkey and lighting candles all in the same weekend! And the song lyrics ‘over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go’ had new meaning to the kids while we pulled them through the woods out back…
(see how warm last Thanksgiving was, here!)

Well storm Nemo marched through and left us with just a foot of snow. It was beautiful to wake up to, and the kids liked getting to sled again. We made our car into Lightning McQueen after being inspired by this site, and for some reason Zoe seemed to think swinging was twice as nice in the snow.
