Last year at this time we crammed all our boxes and furniture into our newly spruced up home – and the kids explored the new alley and celebrated Halloween. This year we are settled and this whole ‘decorating outdoors’ thing is SO new to us! We love it. Heck, handing out candy is pretty new to us as well – so hopefully we’ll have enough to go all night (and all day? How does one handle a Saturday Halloween?!)
Have a great weekend.

Look how tiny she looks in this big chair…
My poor little birdie fractured a wing, and hopefully will have the cast off by Wednesday. Just in time for Halloween and her sassy new outfit that she put together herself.

What a year it has been! – Halloween also marks a full year since we’ve moved to our new house. It’s been so great to have the alley and all its neighbors for when the kids want to bound out of the house and ride their bikes, play with other children, bounce on pogo sticks. Something that we couldn’t do back when we lived in the apartment. The constant arranging of playdates is somewhat over and they are a little freer, more independent. I’m hoping it’s for the better.

Our synagogue is in the middle of what is now a large, thriving Chinatown. We love going to the New World Mall which has at least 3 floors of all the possible Asian foods you could possibly want. Just near our table we found Korean-Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese dishes to choose from. Check out the choices here. I hope to make this a regular habit ..

In August someone made some good use of the waterfront in Williamsburg Brooklyn and made some awesome curvy trails with a view… for bikes, skateboards and non-metal scooters. We couldn’t get the kids to stop. Next time we are bringing bikes to Brooklyn Bike Park!

It’s the season for pumpkins again, yes? We learned this time around to NOT put our pumpkins out too early though … last year the squirrels ran off with one, and ate as much of it as they could. But eating everything flavored with pumpkin is my favorite past time… so I kind of understand.

Last weekend we decorated the sukkah – how can you not love a holiday that celebrates a harvest? And with that in mind, we are scrambling to collect the things that we’ve been growing before all the rain here blows it down.

Have a great weekend!
