Well, before school started we ran off to Connecticut again (and to the Hamptons too but that post is to come). Trying to get as much lake, beach, outdoors as we can before the weather shifts. School has been gently ramping up again – I’m pleasantly surprised by how responsible Ezra is being about his work and Zoe always loves the challenge. Let’s hope it continues. Meanwhile we let the kids choose their ideal meal on this dreamy weekend…

Zoe and Luca put their life vests on, jumped in a canoe and paddled off! These little adventurers forgot to ask their parents about this…

One weekend evening there was a ‘last hurrah’ of sorts at the lake – where everyone brought a dish for the potluck and bluegrass music entertained the crowd. When everyone pitches in to pick the flowers and create the candle path, it really feels intimate and cozy. The kids took one last dive off the dock with a bit of hesitation – all of us wishing the day at the lake could last forever.

We had a relaxing weekend with friends in Connecticut again, and had a chance to visit a chicken farm and collect eggs! I was surprised by how patient the chickens were around small kids, and not a single egg broken!

Before school started – we enjoyed a leisurely pot luck and BBQ at the lake last weekend. It all ended with the kids sending paper lanterns up into the night sky – something that we tried to do at the beginning of the summer but it was just too windy. On this perfect night they finally took flight:

Our kids had this nutty habit of getting in line for the lake ice cream give away… 2 hours before it started! I couldn’t believe the tenacity – normally we cannot get these kids to wait for anything! After filling up on ice cream (E loves the sorbet in a coconut shell) we can get them to relax and paint before dinner.

Seriously Ezra has to consider being a goat farmer… he is THAT GOOD with goats. He sang quietly to a goat named Clover for about 20 minutes and won him over. I think Clover even tried to follow us home. (Some shots from the weekend:)
