Every year my side of the family rounds up to do some gift opening and general holiday cheer.  This year we were even gifted with a little dusting of snow from Mother Nature… not enough to keep loved ones from traveling, but enough to make the setting seem perfect.  And tonight, we start our own Chanukah candle lighting …

Hi all.  Not much happening here other than the standard crunch that is December – with all its holiday parties and concerts, and prepping for the holiday candle lighting at home.   At first our Japanese Maple outside turned slowly… and I was glad it did.  I felt like I could glance out my window at these fire engine red leaves forever, but now they are falling and making way for the winter.  Clues that the holidays are near are abound!  We look forward to having lots of cousin time ahead… more to come soon.

Can you believe it’s already been a full year?  I can’t.

We are always excited to get out to see Carl and Tricia and now… new Angelo.  His first birthday was amazing; with hours of food and fun in the pool.  I think Angelo enjoyed smashing his cake more than anything else going on … happy birthday delicious little man!

We had another round of cousins come through!  We took them to Oculus and lower Manhattan for some slide and playground time, then invited them along to find eggs in our alley.  While the boys went to a Yankees game, the gals went to see an acrobatic show titled  ‘Something’ in Times Square.  Zoe loves the huge cupcakes sold outside of the theater.  The weather was unseasonably warm so kids were able to dye eggs outdoors (whew.. less mess).  Ezra is super proud of his ‘galaxy egg’ seen here:

Well it was time again for the ‘Trotto Holiday roundup’ as we’ve done in years past.  My kids got gifts in Chanukah wrap paper and their cousins decked out in red and green and tore open gifts in Santa paper.  The food was delicious and the company was great.  And our newest addition to it all – Angelo – was surprisingly chill for a tiny guy at the table.  He even tried to keep up to conversation.

There’s probably no bigger feat than getting this whole entourage (that is my husband’s family and relatives) to enjoy the same activity and move around at the same place and same pace, yet they always seem to amaze me and do it so well.  Which is ideal for us since Ezra and Zoe love spending so much time with their cousins.  And on a hot day – gazing at cool pools filled with polar bears, penguins, riding the tram or carousel and feeding lorikeets is pretty much all we wanted to do.

Sorry again that I’ve lagged in posting photos but this past April Spring break week has been so full of activity, my camera and phone were back burnered.

We spent a lovely first 2 seders with cousins Alison and Stella (remember they came to see US here?)  Kansas City is amazing!  I love the Nelson Atkins Art Museum (although it was so warm outside we stayed with the Claes Oldenburg sculptures outdoors) and we had a lovely 2nd night seder outdoors – which I always love.  (It happened before a few years ago in Maryland!)  More pix of the Kansas City Zoo are to come..
