Have you ever had Harney & Sons Tea? My husband has become quite the sommelier of tea these days… moving away from coffee and getting very particular about his teas. They are really yummy – and blends with blueberry and pumpkin were great to sample on a cold day. The kids like sampling the caffeine free varieties. What are YOU drinking while it’s cold outside?

On Christmas day we stayed indoors for the most part because that warm spell was broken by the coldest snap ever! Our friends invited us to their house for a little dinner, and because Lea and Mia’s mom is from Germany we felt a little bit of German Christmas in the air. The exception of course was the ‘Simon’ game under the tree – that was a piece of my own past!

The weather was unseasonably warm during the beginning of this week … all the way up to near 70 degrees! As I drove back from Boston I saw people in Central Park wearing only tee shirts and shorts – in late December. We decided it would be a perfect balmy night to see the crazy over-the-top holiday lights in the Dyker Heights section of Brooklyn. The light show didn’t disappoint and for the first time we could get out of the car and walk around, without freezing.

Hope you are enjoying your week everyone!

While we don’t celebrate Christmas at home, we know and love a lot of people who do. When we were in Boston we went back to cousin Paul and Sophia’s house and enjoyed all their holiday decorations. And the relatives even left a couple gifts under the tree for the kids! We got whopped with 8-12 inches of snow which the dogs (Max and Mia) loved looking at – from the windows. I think the snow got too high for little dogs to even stand in!

Ezra got the lead part in his school play, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas! He put on at least 3 shows yesterday – 2 during the school day and then one big one for parents and friends at night. I think he may’ve forgotten some lines at the end but … I really couldn’t tell! He was so good at acting his way through whatever mistakes may’ve happened that everyone loved the show and wanted to take a photo with ‘the star’ at the end!

Ok I confess – I created this stage set last year so I’m really glad E got to act in front of it this year!

It sure was exciting back here at home in Queens where both Zoe and Ezra had holiday performances to do. What hams my kids are! I for one am terrified to get up in front of people but somehow miraculously my kids are NOT! ZOE and her class put on an adorable show with a snowflake song and Zoe was belting out the tunes fearlessly…
