Once a year the sun sets perfectly between buildings on 23rd-34th Street (and others on the West side) and here in NYC we call it ‘Manhattanhenge‘. Sadly I missed it this year (which is odd seeing as I work near to here) but I’ve seen it in past years, and it is beautiful. Photos below via instagram :

We ‘won’ an opportunity to go camping in one of NYC’s parks (via the Parks Dept.) I think we were ‘going for’ a night at Central Park, and got a park in Inwood instead. It’s located at 218th st on the west side of Manhattan. We were supplied with tents, s’mores, and new friends – and about 4-6 park rangers who took us on a late night hike! There was a skunk family tip toeing around as we slept, but otherwise it was all quite peaceful. And who knew there is so much Native American history there?
(have a great weekend!)
Ahh summer we knew you would finally return, hot temperatures and all. But what a difference a year makes. We are still only minutes from Manhattan by train but can catch fireflies after dinner in the alley now. Lots of lemonade stands and random box inventions going on… here are some glimpses via our instagram:
