While we were in Cornwall we walked across a field to Brad’s Aunt Nan and Uncle John’s house. Remember Aunt Nan’s shadow box art that I mentioned here? Turns out she loves to make paintings as well as sculptures out of gourds (so many gourds!). She even creates giant chocolate chip cookies, fried eggs and slippers by felting wool. The kids loved exploring her art and yoga studio (created from a chicken coop) and had even more fun using the dog door near the front entrance!

I am a bit behind on posting photos. This is from Sunday when we were out in the country enjoying … the snow? Yes we got a dusting that got the kids really excited – and we are hoping to get nothing more than a dusting tonight (as if Thanksgivukkah isn’t going to be frantic enough with travel, eh?) Enjoy the start to all the holiday fun, and here’s some fun info on Thanksgivukkah – which won’t happen again until 79811!

I’ve posted about all this before… all the winter city fun like the miniature trains at Grand Central Station (this year with a mural of Maira Kalman’s characters) – and the ice skating rink at Bryant Park. It was a weekend day when Zoe was taken to dance downtown with her dad, so Ezra and I had some much needed and sorely missed one-on-one time. He was – as always – my favorite little man to hang out with.

this time I was able to take him through the hallways behind this colored glass!

One of the great advantages of Ezra being in a dual language program is that we get to meet people from countries where mostly Spanish is spoken. Natalia’s family always throws a warm, fun birthday with a hand made piñata and amazing food! It goes on for hours and is a mostly Spanish-speaking affair (which flexes our language skills, or miming skills – or a little of both.) Now Zoe is insisting on a ‘payaso‘ and Lolaloopsy piñata for her big day!

We found a great car show at Sotheby’s Auction house … where Ezra fell into shock over the prices. The Bugatti estimated auction price is 8 million and the Ferrari racing car is estimated at 12 million. Yowza! But look how beautiful the lines of these cars are – before cars were designed with computer aided drafting systems. I can’t blame him for wanting to pose with each car (and there’s even a sweet tiny yellow one for Zoe!) By the way the staff was super sweet and accommodating to kids ..

This has been a great fall for making leaf piles. We went out to New Jersey last weekend to see cousins Steven and Arianna – and it’s amazing how much pleasure my city kids can get out of a yard full of colorful leaves. What a nice departure to NOT have to worry about all the things that can be in leaf piles in the city! Have a great weekend and enjoy the last of fall’s colors – while they are here:
