We love the Bekvan stool by Ikea. We’ve painted it and had it by our kitchen counter for years now and Ezra always used it to participate in food prep and (watching us) cooking. But his sister prefers to use it as a ‘half picnic table’ as she calls it.
Layers of our paint have worn off it by now but I’d love to copy this great stool makeover.

6 little cake pans make for a very collaborative effort in making Zoe’s birthday cake (thanks to our Connecticut hosts for this great idea). No fighting over frosting – although the birthday girl did sneak a few licks in while decorating. She loved her doll high chair which we found at a stoop sale while in Boston – and then spruced it up with a coat of paint, stickers, and new cushion made from an old Ikea tablecloth.
