Via our Instagram feed…if you haven’t already seen it:

We had a shockingly warm day in late Feb that had us hopeful – grilling outdoors mid-winter is pretty great:

-But then there was more of this lovely view from our front window, happening more frequently now:

Relying on the goings on in our hood to entertain the kids, like this super fun ‘Drag Queen Story Hour‘ that packed the house at the local library:

And of course my husband has another great show up, and I help him out when we don’t have a ladder (this pix caught by bystander Ezra) :

We stepped out to DUMBO again and enjoyed the last of the longer days before dusk settled in … the kids still love running around the glass enclosed carousel and climbing on the sculpture around Brooklyn Waterfront Park. But frankly the temps got too cold to hang outdoors for much longer and we finally put the fireplace to good use again! Note that we moved the furniture around so that our toes would get the heat…

Last year at this time we crammed all our boxes and furniture into our newly spruced up home – and the kids explored the new alley and celebrated Halloween. This year we are settled and this whole ‘decorating outdoors’ thing is SO new to us! We love it. Heck, handing out candy is pretty new to us as well – so hopefully we’ll have enough to go all night (and all day? How does one handle a Saturday Halloween?!)
Have a great weekend.

I don’t know if it has to do with his recent obsession with Minecraft or not – but this boy can build a room! While we were putting together some kitchen ideas at Ikea – he quietly tinkered away on the kitchen planning program and came up with some better decorating ideas than we had. hmmmmm…

Hmmmm Ezra seems to need his privacy more and more often these days. Can you see the cryptic message he spelled out in crayons, bandaids and toy cars on his bedroom floor?

This past Saturday was a day of fasting, for those of us observing Yom Kippur. We broke the fast at my friend Kate’s house… who is not only a phenomenal cook but has the cutest home ever. I am starting to think I want to move to her nearby neighborhood and convert my garage to a party spot, as she has. And since she and her husband spent some time in Russia they have a very cool, folksy red and blue thing going on in their home that is reminiscent of my godmother’s Hungarian pillows (which I love). It’s a Good Yontif when you have this to look forward to at the end of it all!

The kids went away to enjoy the country again… isn’t that what summer is for?

Most parents enjoy their down time but I’m having a hard time enjoying coming home to their empty room, toys standing still in time. I miss them. I often ask my husband if we’ve taken this attachment parenting thing just a bit too far. We are use to being with each other 24-7. Even going to work and school by day is too much time away but we are all adjusting to it slowly.

I imagine some day they will not want to spend sooooo much time with me so I may as well get use to it. For now I like taking pictures of their still room in summer light. Without the kids around to chatter I could actually hear birds chirping outside their bedroom windows this morning.

While upstate we got to visit cousin Jake and Tali’s new house. It’s so big and pretty! There are tiny frogs all around the gardens and koi pond and best of all, Ezra and his cousin could ride the mower around the yard. NOW Ezra really wants a house, and a vehicle to drive around the grounds!
