Some images from our long holiday weekend from instagram: we used my cousin’s lovely china for our thanksgiving meal, and outside (finally! at the end of November!) our Japanese Maple turned a fire engine red. The weather was so balmy on the day after Thanksgiving that we took our cousins to Flushing Meadow Park – where we rode the Cobra-coaster and ran around the World’s Fair Globe. Then a reprieve from turkey: some tacos from Tortilleria Nixtamal in Corona! (I’m only regretful that I didn’t get a shot of the perfect turkey meal that my husband spearheaded… it was so tasty).

Just a gratuitous post with photos of Aya’s pretty outdoor birthday party. I love parties in Flushing Meadow Park with the World’s Fair monument as the backdrop. It was a perfect day for swinging at the piñata and making princess crowns in the grass .. happy 4th little Aya Lucia! (seen here second from the left)

We love Flushing Meadow Park – a park that may be on the verge of shrinking due to some controversial plans for tennis expansion.

It’s a quiet old place with the remnants of the World’s Fair looming just beyond where the more utilized US Open area is. The kids love to scoot around the globe. The Queens Museum of Art is nearby so we can duck in to warm our toes and check out the panorama of the city, and the vintage World’s Fair paraphernalia.
