Well shortly after writing about our blustery snowy day, we started to see a bit of a thaw here in NYC. As my family in Boston deals with breaking a snow record with their 108 inches of snow as of Sunday, we are started to see tiny buds of tulips coming up on the front lawn and the alley is wet from all the melting snow. Will it last – or is this just March being tempestuous again? I dread the idea of a rogue snowstorm in April!

I feel like we’ve been watching this giant ice cube melt for MONTHS. Finally the water is flowing and the dads even jumped into the freezing water. We had a weekend of on and off rain… but when it was sunny it was great to pull the canoes out.
Now if only we could get those docks back out into the lake.

We got to Connecticut again to see a little nature – and were pleasantly surprised to see most of the snow was gone. There was even a little bit of growth happening underfoot, and maple syrup harvesting going on up the road. We even found some keys we dropped in the snow while snowshoeing several weeks ago. This has been the longest winter it seems … and ironically we are working on the Laura Ingalls Wilder book by the same title right now. It really forces Ezra to realize how much went into surviving such a winter years ago. We are only pining for the sun while the characters in the book are literally starving for food. We will be pretty happy to see real spring and summer temps when they come.
