Zoe spent the summer learning all about reducing, reusing and recycling.  This fun little day camp happens in Ezra’s regular school – where a garden is situated on the roof.  Zoe got to join this year and grew vegetables, did her own garden designs, and met a lot of friends.  At the end of it all they had a ‘cafe night’ with pot luck and healthy foods from the garden, as well as a reading and performance by our little lady herself!  I’m so proud of her.

Can you believe it’s already been a full year?  I can’t.

We are always excited to get out to see Carl and Tricia and now… new Angelo.  His first birthday was amazing; with hours of food and fun in the pool.  I think Angelo enjoyed smashing his cake more than anything else going on … happy birthday delicious little man!

Did it seem like it was winter just a day or 2 ago?  That’s how it goes here in NYC – cold to hot.  Usually we like to enter this museum (AMNH) for all the great science exhibits but on a day as hot as this one… the sprinklers outside are just too enticing!

Meanwhile Louie has taken to lounging wherever it’s cool and Zoe is finding more creative reading spots:

At the end of summer we finally got back to our favorite peaceful (traffic free) island just a short boat ride from Manhattan.  There’s a new slide on Governor’s that we had to check out (touted as being the largest) and a VW show was on.  The kids loved looking at the vintage models from the 60s and now want a van for Chanukah!

We skipped off to the country for some much needed lake, tennis and blueberry picking .  Somewhere along the way we found Michael Wainwright’s studio – where they had a day of free pizza, ice cream and ceramic painting/enameling that the kids loved!  And of course we couldn’t miss a day at the Lime Rock  again to check out some more speedy cars.

Cousins Alison and Stella took us to the Mitzvah Garden near there synagogue, where we learned a thing or two about collecting water in rain barrels and planting vegetables for summer!  I plan on using some info I gleaned about keeping purple martins around with bird feeders .. so that they will linger to eat all our bugs!
