While we were out by the beach we finally got a chance to explore this garden and home.  It is usually closed when we are out there, but somehow we landed on a day where the grounds were open to the public.  The artist and writer Robert Dash use to live here and apparently we were able to meet his sweet dog – Barnsley – who barks when you LEAVE the premises, but not when you arrive!

I’m going to miss these summer weekends where our friends ‘fancy up’ an old, worn picnic table, eat from a vintage truck that produces pizza (even GF for Zoe!), and then we swim as the sun is setting.  We do have a few more weeks left so ..  perhaps we will do it again? I hope so!  What are you up to this weekend?

How is everyone’s summer going?  Now that Ezra’s big event is over, the summer feels like one great big exhale.  The kids have camps by day but otherwise we’ve had hot and steamy (or sometimes cool and breezy) party nights in crammed urban backyards with friends.

OR lemonade stands and trips to Corona Ice King by day ..

OR more evening fun in the way of outdoor movies in a neighbor’s yard (LOVE Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!)

What have YOU been up to ?  As always – it’s all going by so quickly as summer does:

Someone’s birthday is rapidly approaching, and all he wanted this year was another trip to the Lime Rock Race track.  Look at the smile on this boy’s face! (in his imagination he’s owning all these cars.. )

It’s finally here… and yet, it’s arrived too quickly.  The winter really did speed by this year (hello? what happened to spring?) and now the kids are officially out of school and frolicking.

Ezra’s Lemonade stand is open again for business and Zoe got to graduate from her k-2nd grade school. It’s off to another school next year for her .. but mostly with the same kids in her class.  We are lucky that another school nearby has opened up a dual-language (Spanish English) class for her to segue to.  I couldn’t be more pleased that it’s practically across the street from our house!  And Zoe couldn’t be happier about staying with her classmates.

Zoe spent the summer learning all about reducing, reusing and recycling.  This fun little day camp happens in Ezra’s regular school – where a garden is situated on the roof.  Zoe got to join this year and grew vegetables, did her own garden designs, and met a lot of friends.  At the end of it all they had a ‘cafe night’ with pot luck and healthy foods from the garden, as well as a reading and performance by our little lady herself!  I’m so proud of her.

Can you believe it’s already been a full year?  I can’t.

We are always excited to get out to see Carl and Tricia and now… new Angelo.  His first birthday was amazing; with hours of food and fun in the pool.  I think Angelo enjoyed smashing his cake more than anything else going on … happy birthday delicious little man!
