Wayyyyyy on the far west side of 42nd street there is a small plaza with a ‘big man’ slide (as Zoe likes to call it.) Frankly if you live in NYC, Times Square is the last place you want to deal with walking through .. but I was curious about this slide myself. So we braved the throngs of tourists and walked all the way over to the water/12th Avenue to see the artist’s rendition of a playground slide.  Remember how Ezra adored these figures on the subway platform here?  Full disclosure: I don’t like this artist’s previous work where he abused an animal – but these figures are definitely a better route:

At the end of summer we finally got back to our favorite peaceful (traffic free) island just a short boat ride from Manhattan.  There’s a new slide on Governor’s that we had to check out (touted as being the largest) and a VW show was on.  The kids loved looking at the vintage models from the 60s and now want a van for Chanukah!

We had to show the cousins the best playground in NYC – so off to Brooklyn to find slide mountain, the swing zone and the cute little cabins in the sand at Brooklyn Bridge Park/Pier 6. And of course while there we had to take them to Jane’s Carousel – that great big beautiful merry-go-round in the glass box by the water that we’ve blogged about so many times before!
