Hi all.  Not much happening here other than the standard crunch that is December – with all its holiday parties and concerts, and prepping for the holiday candle lighting at home.   At first our Japanese Maple outside turned slowly… and I was glad it did.  I felt like I could glance out my window at these fire engine red leaves forever, but now they are falling and making way for the winter.  Clues that the holidays are near are abound!  We look forward to having lots of cousin time ahead… more to come soon.

It was a crazy busy week last week of movie premiers and parent/teacher conferences. We ran off to a friend’s house in the country to enjoy the foliage but it was covered with snow by Sunday! Here are some snaps from IG of some of the highlights :

Oh hello there sorely neglected blog. I’m sorry I haven’t come here in awhile … school schedules whipping up a frenzy, some new cold weather colds coming on in the house already and general switching-out-summer-things-for-winter sweaters kind of activities going on. Truth be told I haven’t had much time to stop and enjoy the colors this fall, except for this weekend (and that was a darn good hike). It’s been a go, go, go kind of month – I hope to take more of November in while it’s here – and before the snow comes. Enjoy the weekend.

A couple weekends ago we were back in the Boston suburbs and on ATVs again. Clearly I am lagging a bit on posting photos .. but this springy weekend was one that I couldn’t pass up sharing with everyone. What are YOU up to this weekend?

I really cannot believe we are finally smelling some cut grass outdoors, and generally the air is fresh and warm! What a long winter we’ve had –
With warmer temps comes Zoe’s desire to get good at riding her brother’s old balance bike. I am tempted to paint it purple for her…
We even got to play dress up outdoors and run around like mermaids (with Z’s friend Hazel on the slide). Summer… bring it on!

Am I really going to talk about the weather… again? Am I starting to bore you? I am starting to bore myself. But the weather has been a hot topic. And I feel a bit in shock that this week has been tolerable. I’ve heard a number of people compare themselves to moles – emerging from underground and seeing the sun for the first time in ages. New Yorkers feel like they are rubbing their eyes in the sun and adjusting to the new bright and warmer weather. Is it really here? Was the groundhog right this year afterall? I guess it now has been about 6 weeks since the groundhog’s predictions.

BUT I was so happy when I took this photo with my phone last night (the official first day of spring) at nearly 7 pm, while waiting on the subway platform for my train with all the other Queens commuters. Look at that glorious sun – now lingering longer in the day and into the early evening! I cannot wait for summer. I promise to never complain about the heat.

Enjoy your weekend.
