We went back to gorgeous Connecticut and all the nature that it has to provide.  We hiked around the Housatonic Falls a bit – which looked so much like the moon with fresh ice water running over it.  The kids were real patient about posing for their dad’s photos – in some cases they even got into the Swiss cheese holes in the rocks for the shot!
Zoe loved posing as a wood sprite on tree stumps (her dad’s shot is better but my less professional version from my iPhone is below).  We also explored a dairy farm  where fresh chocolates are made from the cow’s milk!  Of course this got us in the mood for some ice cream that came from another dairy farm down the road.  How did Zoe fit that whole ice cream into her belly you may ask?  Well, mom helped at the end.

For Max’s birthday the ‘Leo boys’ took a fishing excursion to the great wide ocean off the coast of Brooklyn.  While they didn’t catch anything edible (and compassionately threw many back to the sea) they came home smelling like briny fisherman and had a great day in the sun..!  We couldn’t help but think my dad would’ve loved this trip;

Just a gratuitous post with photos of Aya’s pretty outdoor birthday party. I love parties in Flushing Meadow Park with the World’s Fair monument as the backdrop. It was a perfect day for swinging at the piñata and making princess crowns in the grass .. happy 4th little Aya Lucia! (seen here second from the left)

A couple weekends ago we were back in the Boston suburbs and on ATVs again. Clearly I am lagging a bit on posting photos .. but this springy weekend was one that I couldn’t pass up sharing with everyone. What are YOU up to this weekend?
Have a lovely one!

While in the Rochester area last weekend we stepped out to Mendon Ponds Park Nature Center, where we met rescued birds (can you BELIEVE that adorable owl?!?) and held out seed for chickadees to feed on. They really perched on our hands to eat!
Shortly after that gray day, the sun was out and snow melted again – just in time for our drive home.

I had my kiddos back with me for only a week – but I love when we can slowly and calmly take the subway into the city, and if the park is quiet we have the best laid back experience of the city. Ezra loves watching the boats (and now wants a remote controlled boat for his birthday!) Zoe has taken to sketching while in her stroller, and of course we always love finding strange new (fuzzy) nature in Central Park. And we can’t leave this area of the park without crawling all over Alice and her Wonderland folks first.

After all this fun, I hope they recorded it well enough to remember it all. If not, they can always come to this blog for a reminder!
