How did this year fly by so quickly? I can’t believe it’s nearly June… JUNE!!
Well we tripped out to ‘cation house again for some of the weekend – where we saw a car show and met the neighbor’s dog Kumi. The sun poked its head out for a bit so that the kids could hone their kayak rowing skills, and then we needed to get back to the city for a busy week of E&Z’s dad working days and nights. If the blog goes a little radio silent for a bit, we will be back soon after the crazy work spell is over! Meanwhile some shots from our Instagram feed:

I have no idea why it took us so long to check out this race car track in Cornwall, Ct area – one that Paul Newman use to frequent, and that we can hear (wheels squealing on the track) from the ‘cation house‘ in the spring and summer time.   It was a hot Sunday over Memorial Day weekend but the heat didn’t stop us (Ezra especially) from enjoying all the classic and current cars on display:

Here we are saying “so long-for-now” to neighbors who are moving to the other coast for a go at a new career, and enjoying the first warm day during Memorial Day weekend. A neighbor then drove in with his ‘kit car’ that took him 2 years to make. Of course you know who had to climb in and give it a test drive!

How did I forget to post these pretty pictures? Nothing is more Americana than the Memorial Day ceremonies in West Cornwall CT – with their quaint parade of old fashioned cars, firetrucks and carnival afterwards. We did the Cakewalk again around the Maypole and Brad even won a cake covered in gummy worms!

We are lucky to be able to escape the city and go somewhere quaint and peaceful. Of course Ezra wanted to bring his iced tea to the country – but I’m not sure his price increase worked on the biggest ‘sale’ weekend of the year! I love that the kids sleep so well after a day of running around outdoors … which is an added bonus when the grill cools off and parents can talk.
