I think we are. But we were happy to tag along with our friends this past Sunday – to see the New York Botanical Garden’s Haunted Garden. Lots of crazy ideas here for how to carve (or stack) your pumpkins into nifty sculptures. We have 2 last pumpkins to carve/paint or stick with these cool decorators that Bubby found… and then it’s over. Pumpkins – prepare to become soup!

We’ve had a fun and fortunate summer .. fortunate in that many of our friends have invited us to peaceful retreats to the country. And it couldn’t come at a better time since there’s constant noise and smells (and today crazy heat!) coming from the busy street below our city apartment! Etta and Audrey had us out to their grandparents’ house where the kids could run through grass, play on swings and fish at the VERY local pond. Ezra and Zoe couldn’t get enough of their plants and the garden, where Ezra invented ‘chocolate mint sandwiches’ (basically the leaves from the chocolate-mint plant folded into a triangle and eaten right there by the garden.) Audrey loves to wear her bunny ears and hop around – heck I love the ears too. And of course there was a session of s’more making at night – how could we go without one?

It has been some time since our neighbors put some love into the little area behind our building. We got some paint and plants and freshened up our ‘urban back yard‘ – just in time for summer meals outdoors. I created another mural for the building and someone even provided a book case that we turned into raised flower beds! Check out this pin for more cool ideas of how to reuse a tire in your garden.
