To New York Aquarium we go!  What better way to spend the first week of summer vacay then to get to the Coney Island area and check out some sealife?  This spot has been under years of renovation after the last hurricane hit .. and soon that big Shark Tank will be opening to the public!

We spent the 4th of July with friends in Seaford Long Island. Zoe was excited to wear her patriotic dress and Ezra was happy to get out of the city heat.
The kids loved filling a trap with bread and catching killies which we then put back into the water. We even had a crab trap to try – and caught a crab although he very quickly walked sideways right out of the trap and to the edge of the pier, then jumped into the water as well!

It certainly seems like spring is already here. Even though not all of the cherry blossoms were out, enough were blooming at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden to make it worth the trip. We love their Japanese Garden where the kids can check out the fish – and getting to romp in the grass under the warm sun is always a treat. The Patrick Dougherty installation was beautiful as well. It made me wish we could build one of these structures in our garden for the kids to play in all the time.
