While the kids enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa’s house… my husband and I went to Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake to sip wine and relax.  It was pretty relaxing staying in a cabin that was so buried in the woods, we didn’t have wifi for several days.  Kind of reminded me of the days when we first started dating – no iPhone interruption! We let Louie our dog join us and I think he had a good time –

We took off to upstate NY for the long fourth of July weekend.  Ezra and Zoe stayed with cousins and grandma and grandpa … they found a strawberry patch behind Aunt Becca’s house!  I don’t think I’ve ever eaten berries sweeter than this.  But we had to eat them quickly – no preservatives in these bad boys.  They got soft within a day.  They were just too tasty NOT to eat them.  After this picking session, my husband and I took off for wine tasting in the Finger Lakes region (more photos to come)!

We skipped off to the country for some much needed lake, tennis and blueberry picking .  Somewhere along the way we found Michael Wainwright’s studio – where they had a day of free pizza, ice cream and ceramic painting/enameling that the kids loved!  And of course we couldn’t miss a day at the Lime Rock  again to check out some more speedy cars.

Seriously Ezra has to consider being a goat farmer… he is THAT GOOD with goats. He sang quietly to a goat named Clover for about 20 minutes and won him over. I think Clover even tried to follow us home. (Some shots from the weekend:)

Our 4th of July was a little rained out… but nothing beats a giant beach ball to cheer the kids up.
Zoe is obsessed with me making her into a sand mermaid whenever we are anywhere near sand –

We decided to let the kids linger in CT for the week – a move that always breaks my heart a little as I hate to spend time away from them, yet at the same time they need the fresh air and space to grow. ‘Camp’ started with a visit to the local farms and animals, and lots of lake time. I’ve even asked the counselors to keep sending photos but … I assume they have their hands full. More pix to come soon – and meanwhile here’s a start of photos from my iphone:

While in Cornwall CT we like to get a road trip in … to Great Barrington Mass. This time around the weather was not so freezing cold like our last trip, and we were able to do some blueberry picking at Windy Hill Farm. Our cousins Jake and Tali surprised us – and joined us as they were driving home from a vacation in Massachusetts. We convinced them to come back to CT with us, and had double the amount of blueberries for dessert and breakfast!
