We had such a great time that we decided to return on the weekend.  So glad we did.. the good weather and fun wouldn’t stop:

Once again we tripped off to Bridgehampton Barn – and right in the middle of the hurricane week.  Somehow shockingly we got a day of sun and strange misty, foggy weather.  We love going to this beach – where we married – to toss bread crumbs or do ‘tashlich‘ for the High Holidays.  I wrote about tashlich for my synagogue’s newsletter this year, because it’s a special tradition that me and the family like to do on Rosh Hashanah.  It’s especially nice to do it at the beach – a pensive place when all the tourists are away, as they tend to be gone when September comes around.   This 2 day break was really restorative!

We were hellbent on frolicking in waves while we can … even Louie enjoyed the beach in Sagaponack and smelled like sea air for a weekend.  Zoe loved having mosquito netting .. er, ‘princess canopy’ .. on her bed.  I don’t think we could find a better spot of ‘moving water’ for Tashlich!  (Don’t know what tashlich is? Click here).  The waves were huge like the day we got married in this same spot and – I’m not lying – the sky really was that pink during sunset hour:

Well, before school started we ran off to Connecticut again (and to the Hamptons too but that post is to come). Trying to get as much lake, beach, outdoors as we can before the weather shifts. School has been gently ramping up again – I’m pleasantly surprised by how responsible Ezra is being about his work and Zoe always loves the challenge. Let’s hope it continues. Meanwhile we let the kids choose their ideal meal on this dreamy weekend…

Our end-of-summer ritual … going to the Goshen Fair.  It’s not often that our family separates – but this time Zoe was hell-bent on seeing all the cute animals and Ezra wanted to hit Lime Rock for their annual Classic Car Show.  So my girl and I got a day on our own:

She and her new friend Luca had walkie talkies, and spoke through these even when only a foot apart from each other!

As the weekends here grow colder (yes, they already are!) we joined some friends to try on some ‘glamping’ (glamorous camping) in the woods.   I basically lived in the one pair of corduroy pants,  fleece and scarf that I packed – and my bathing suit was largely ignored.  But this was not the case for my husband and Ezra who braved the (slightly warmer) pond to try on some new and crazy water sports!  This is the last week before school starts here in NYC and – I have to say – this summer went by far far too quickly.

(a special thank you to the Marten family for letting us join along for the fun!)
