We stepped out to DUMBO again and enjoyed the last of the longer days before dusk settled in … the kids still love running around the glass enclosed carousel and climbing on the sculpture around Brooklyn Waterfront Park. But frankly the temps got too cold to hang outdoors for much longer and we finally put the fireplace to good use again! Note that we moved the furniture around so that our toes would get the heat…

While we were in DUMBO a week ago, we grabbed some ice cream and watched the sky get progressively more and more fiery between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. (Remember the carousel in a glass box that we posted here and here? You can see it illuminated in the photos below.)
It’s getting darker earlier… already! This summer is flying by so quickly.

We might be creatures of habit because we were back here again at the DUMBO Art Festival. We even ran into Brooklyn bloggers from Sweetfineday.com and I have to admit – I’m so smitten with their blog that I felt like we were in the presence of celebrities-of-sorts (the baked goods! the photography!) And like them, we too were happily trapped in the glass box surrounding the carousel for a bit before doing some art in the rain. String art, spin art, looking at back-pack art and enjoying the ‘solar paneled sculpture’ that charged iphones (E loved this). The sun popped back out again and it proved to be a great day for creating and exploring.

We had another clear-of-rain Friday, which meant another run to a playground … this time back to DUMBO where we went this past summer for an art festival. The sea-faring themed playground is ideal for playing ‘pirates’ – and we love watching the trains run over the bridge overhead. Ezra met some new friends on the tire swing and Zoe loved the sandbox (which manages to spread out all over the playground, making us feel like we are at the beach)!
