There’s probably no bigger feat than getting this whole entourage (that is my husband’s family and relatives) to enjoy the same activity and move around at the same place and same pace, yet they always seem to amaze me and do it so well.  Which is ideal for us since Ezra and Zoe love spending so much time with their cousins.  And on a hot day – gazing at cool pools filled with polar bears, penguins, riding the tram or carousel and feeding lorikeets is pretty much all we wanted to do.

When it was too chilly for the beach, this playground in Boca provided hours of fun for the kids. Lots of climbing space with little hidden areas of wheels and buttons meant imaginative play for the cousins – and the carousel offered a nice break before lunch.

We got another urge to explore Brooklyn and found ourselves wandering around the Lefferts House at Prospect Park. Apparently the house isn’t open on weekends this time of year but the kids still get inspired running around its yard. Ezra is very into the Laura Ingalls Wilder series of books these days – so seeing a horse-drawn wagon and water pump just makes him the happiest kid ever. We will have to blog about this place once we get on the inside of the house!
And Zoe loves being near the carousel at dusk when the lights on it twinkle. It’s worth mentioning that her outfit was inspired by her need to look like a ‘ladybug and a bee’ all in the same day.

Whew .. a week of work is done and I have a few days to decompress before going back to work again. My blog has been a little neglected due to a hectic schedule, but my friend sent this beautiful instagram of the Orly Gender show being knitted together this week. I cannot wait to check it out this weekend. And while I was working I was back in this neighborhood again where I found tulips growing by the carousel. It was a bit stressful being so near to Times Square while the news broke that the Boston bombers had it as a second target. But at lunchtime I liked to imagine I could be in Paris when I’m in Bryant Park – especially when it’s misty and rainy, and flowers are in bloom.

Bring on the flowers and warmer weather!

Of course, no trip to DUMBO is complete without a ride on Jane’s Carousel – right outside of the playground. Really, does is get any more magical than this restored 1920s carousel in a giant glass box on the water?
